Our mission is simple. To use technology to help small business do more with less. Programming is our passion. We love open source solutions and believe that a free internet can be profitable. Give us a call and see if we can help you. If we can’t, we will point you in the right direction.
We were pioneers of SAAS (Software as a Service) and believe this is the future of programming. Below are some of the tools we use and recommend every day.
Authorize.Net – Payment Gateway
If you need to accept payments online, there is no better service than authorize.net. They have been providing payment gateways since 1996. They offer many solutions that are very easy to integrate and customize. We are certified Authorize.Net developers.
MySQL – Databases
Since the 1970s SQL has been the greatest thing to happen to data. And for our money (well, no money) MySQL is the the best flavor of SQL. Recently acquired by Sun, who was bought by Oracle, it is the worlds most popular open source database. Our lead developer became MySQL certified in 2007 and was one of the first in the united states with this distinction.
Mandrill – Transactional and Marketing Emails
Mandrill is spinoff of the popular mass market email system, Mail Chimp. It is an inexpensive email infrastructure with a wide array of tools. Mandrill’s API was built for businesses and programmers who need an interface to facilitate safe, fast, and effective email delivery, but not necessarily an all-in-one platform.
Twilio – Telephony API
Twilio is one of the most exciting services we have seen in a long time. It bridges the gap between software and telephone. Voice, SMS text messaging, web-based clients, and inbound call routing are just some of the features they offer. They have written their own, simple, markup language that can power any type of telephonic communication. We are proud to be a part of their developer network, “Twilio DOers
OpenCart – E-Commerce
As web developers, we deal a lot with shopping carts and ecommerce. From building custom solutions to modifying existing ones. Over the past 15 years we have tried them all. OpenCart stands out for it’s simplicity and elegance. It is highly customizable while maintaining it’s ability to be upgraded in concert with any modification.
For client side scripting, we don’t want to reinvent the wheel. jQuery is the rockstar of user interface (UI) development. Highly extensible and infinitely versatile, this makes programming for the browser simple, fun, and intuitive. This has completely changed the way we look at client side programming. And we thank jQuery for an elegant alternative to Flash.
Smarty – PHP Template Engine
There have always been arguments about whether PHP actually needs a template engine. But if you want to have a web application where designers can make easy changes without messing up the programming code, you must to have one. While smarty can actually speed up your PHP site, the main benefit is separating the presentation from the business logic. Smarty has been around for a long time and actually used to be supported by PHP. It’s recent 3.0 branch is an amazing leap forward.
Litmus – Email Deliverability Testing
If you are going to send marketing emails, newsletters, or just transactional material from your application, you need to know 1) if it will make it to the inbox and 2) how it will look when it gets there. Litmus provides spam testing to screen against different popular filters. And they can simulate over thirty different email clients so you can see exactly what your recipient will see. If email is critical to your organization. Litmus is worth the investment.
HTML5 and CSS3 – The Modern Standard of Web Design
We whole heartedly support the newest standards of web development. And while browser compatibility is important, you should not hamper your application and ignore the newest technology for a small fraction of the population that may be using outdated software.
LAMP Web Stack – Server Software Bundle
LAMP is an acronym for a collection of open source software solutions suitable for high-availability and mission-critical websites. This is the most commonly used system in web servers. It consists of Linux (operating system), Apache (http web server), MySQL (database management system), and PHP (programming language). Monkey Logic has the distinction of having designed the, now, widely used LAMP logo.
PHP – Programming Language
A program is only as fast, stable, and secure as the language it is written in. That is why we choose PHP for server side scripting. The foundation of a good web application is still programming for the server. And PHP is the foundation of server programming.
